In the professional pet industry for over 25 yrs., Heather started her animal career as a professional dog walker, and at the request of her clients began training their dogs.  Stricken by the competitive obedience bug with her own dogs she went on and achieved National status, ranking in the top 10 obedience handler/dog teams in Canada numerous times. 

 

Competition obedience was where she was first introduced to the POWER of CLICKER Training and the rest is almost history. With an intense passion for animal behaviour sciences, Heather has since completed and earned her certifications, graduating with distinction through the KAREN PRYOR ACADEMY thus becoming the first Certified Training Partner of KPA in BC.   Heather has also achieved the CPDT-KSA designation, joining the ranks of 2000+ Certified Professional Dog Trainers Worldwide.

Heather's philosophy has always been to "pay it forward".   She wants to help others learn skills to bridge their communication gap and build healthy, fun and trusting relationships with the animals they bring into their lives using the Clicker Training methodology & philosophy.

Part of the philosophy that dogWISE is centred on is the continued growth of both owner and pet. As with all fields, there is constant development in the area of animal training theory and behaviour. In order to be informed and well versed and on top of the latest developments in training, behaviour and research, Heather continues to educate herself by attending seminars and workshops throughout North America.
